Congratulations Politcal Science 101 Class- for finishing 8th in the state at the We the People mock congressional hearings! They have been invited to participate in a state competition in Indianapolis on December 14th and 15th. Great job!
Student Council Bell Ringing- Student
Council members have the opportunity to help ring bells for Salvation
Army on Saturday, December 13 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Kroger in Columbia
City. Please see Mrs. Bishop to get on the list.
Student Council Concession Sales- Student
Council will be selling concessions at the Boys basketball game on
Tuesday, January 27. If you have not helped at concessions, this is
your last chance. Please see Mrs. Bishop to get on the list. Reminder –
if you do not help at any concessions, members will not be allowed to
be in the yearbook picture.
Campus Life Club- will begin in December. It will be at the South Whitley Community Building on Tuesdays from 3:14 to 4:14.
DVD Copy of Fall Play- Anyone who wants a DVD copy of the fall play, Murder By The Book, can pick up an order form in Mrs. Hinthorn’s room.
Miss Kosciusko County and Outstanding Teen TITLE- Attention
all Ladies: Can you dance? Can you sing? Or can you play an instrument?
How about reciting lines from a play or a dramatic reading? If so, you
are eligible to compete for the Miss Kosciusko County or the Outstanding
Teen TITLE this January. Over $2,000.00 was awarded last year alone!

teen pageant is OPEN to any girl living in the state of Indiana 7th
Grade -Junior in high school. Miss Kosciusko is for 18-24 yr. olds—and
those eligible to compete at Miss Huntington this year since their
pageant was cancelled.
Applications are due Monday, December 15th. The show is Jan 17th at Wawasee Middle School.
Toys for Tots Drive- Student
Council is sponsoring a Toys for Tots drive for the Whitko Community in
hopes to win a contest between Whitko High School and Columbia City
High School. The winner of the battle between the schools will be
determined by the amount of toys collected and money donated the winner
will be announced at the Whitko vs. Columbia City Boys’ Basketball game
on Wednesday, November 26th starting at 6:15 p.m. The members
of the Whitko Student Council want to win this battle between the
schools and will be collecting toys and donations at the high school and
selling paper “trains” for $1 during lunch with the donating person’s
name on it and placed on the wall of the high school commons. There
will be a box placed inside the office if students want to donate toys.
Please help the kids in Whitley County have a nice Christmas this year
LILLY ENDOWMENT COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION FORMS AVAILABLE- The
2015 Lilly Community Scholarship will provide full tuition, required
fees, and an annual stipend of up to $900 for required books and
equipment for four years of full-time undergraduate study leading to a
baccalaureate degree at an accredited college or university in Indiana.
Graduating seniors who are residents of Whitley County are encouraged to
apply. Applications may be downloaded from the Community Foundation’s
website and are also available in the Guidance Office. The application
deadline for the 2015 scholarship is Friday January 9, 2015. For more

Shoe Collection Drive-
Whitko Student Council is sponsoring the annual November Shoe
Collection Drive from November 3 – 25. Please bring in your new or
gently used shoes (rubber banded together) and place them in the boxes
in front of the office. The shoes will be sent to needy individuals
overseas or in the U.S. and Whitko will receive money for each pound of
shoes collected. Be a superhero and send your unwanted shoes on a trip!
