Battle of the Books Competition- Want to Battle with Columbia City and Churubusco in a friendly competition? The Columbia City Public Library is hosting a “Battle of the Books!” An Academic competition in which teams will be questioned on their knowledge over 6 books which the Library will provide. Sign-up is open to ALL Whitley County School Students including Whitko Schools. Teams must consist of 4-6 contestants with a clever name. Each team must have an adult sponsor. You must fill out a registration form no later than Friday, December 5th. Books will be distributed to teams no later than Friday, January, 9th. 2015. Teams will be given 10 weeks to prepare for the competition. The competition will be held Saturday, March 21st, at the Peabody Public Library in Columbia City. Trophies will be awarded, so please hurry and enter to compete! Entry forms are in the Media Center, or you may get one from Any English Teacher, or from the Public Library!
Weight Room for Football Players- Attention football players, the weight room will be open after school M, W, and F starting this coming Monday.
NHS Member Volunteer Hours- Anyone looking for volunteer hours or peer tutoring hours need to see Mr. McKerr as soon as possible.
Archery Club Shoot- There will be a shoot with Central Noble and Churubusco on Saturday, December 6. The bus leaves Whitko Middle School at 7 am and will return about 2 pm. See Mr. Green for details.
Archery Club Shirt Orders- are due on Monday, December 1. This is a change, all shirt orders are now due into coaches on Monday December 1.
Student Council Bell Ringing- Student
Council members have the opportunity to help ring bells for Salvation
Army on Saturday, December 13 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Kroger in Columbia
City. Please see Mrs. Bishop to get on the list.
Student Council Concession Sales- Student
Council will be selling concessions at the Boys basketball game on
Tuesday, January 27. If you have not helped at concessions, this is
your last chance. Please see Mrs. Bishop to get on the list. Reminder –
if you do not help at any concessions, members will not be allowed to
be in the yearbook picture.
Campus Life Club- will begin in December. It will be at the South Whitley Community Building on Tuesdays from 3:14 to 4:14.
Miss Kosciusko County and Outstanding Teen TITLE- Attention
all Ladies: Can you dance? Can you sing? Or can you play an instrument?
How about reciting lines from a play or a dramatic reading? If so, you
are eligible to compete for the Miss Kosciusko County or the Outstanding
Teen TITLE this January. Over $2,000.00 was awarded last year alone!

teen pageant is OPEN to any girl living in the state of Indiana 7th
Grade -Junior in high school. Miss Kosciusko is for 18-24 yr. olds—and
those eligible to compete at Miss Huntington this year since their
pageant was cancelled.
Applications are due Monday, December 15th. The show is Jan 17th at Wawasee Middle School.
LILLY ENDOWMENT COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION FORMS AVAILABLE- The
2015 Lilly Community Scholarship will provide full tuition, required
fees, and an annual stipend of up to $900 for required books and
equipment for four years of full-time undergraduate study leading to a
baccalaureate degree at an accredited college or university in Indiana.
Graduating seniors who are residents of Whitley County are encouraged to
apply. Applications may be downloaded from the Community Foundation’s
website and are also available in the Guidance Office. The application
deadline for the 2015 scholarship is Friday January 9, 2015. For more
